Del Rosario Dirtrack is an event created in collaboration with La Urbana Bike, 5especialqueguapo and Adrián Otero. It took place last Saturday, October 17th, in the parish of Tomeza, a few kilometers from Pontevedra.
We made the event coincide with the Rosarío festivities in the Parish of Tomeza, thus enjoying all the amenities that a parish festival offers; churrasco, warm beer, attractions, orchestra and a very comfortable tent in case of extreme rain.
Although initially the weather was not on our side, it held out for a perfect day to twist the throttle and turn left.
We started at 11:00 am, and the first to arrive were more than punctual, even well before the scheduled time, our colleagues from the neighboring country, regulars at these dusty events. Little by little, until almost noon, both participants and spectators arrived. Training lasted until 1:30 pm, while people gradually registered for the race.
After 3 pm, we started with the heats, dividing the registered motorcycles into 3 categories; Pro Dirt Cross (here we included motocross bikes with knobby tires, although this was something we had expressly excluded, and modern dirtbikes. In this modality, two guys who competed nationally in this modality gave us a masterful exhibition of what dirtbike is like professionally these days.). The next category was Road and modified up to 400cc, which was the most numerous with over 25 registered bikes. Finally, 50cc, scooters, and city bikes.
They were very fun heats and in many cases quite competitive. The Maremotos, a crew of paraffin and gasoline, gave it their all with a lot of attitude!!!
Finally, everything went smoothly, no pun intended, and without any serious injuries.
We thank Daniel, the head of the Tomeza festival committee, for supporting us in this initiative and for letting our "Hot burrita" spend 3 nights in his stable. We also thank Jacobo Pérez-Bouzada, David Calvelo for the photographic report and all the people who helped us make the event happen!!!!!
