Dusty Track 5

Dusty Track 5, the fifth edition of this unique dirt track event, took place last Saturday, September 12th, in the town of Maia, near Porto. This time, they surprised us with the location – a racecourse – with a 1 km circuit. You can imagine the speed that could be reached on the straight. Due to the passage of so many motorcycles throughout the day, the turns began to turn more into pure sand pits than tracks. But this didn't detract from the fun, even though visibility was practically nil when following another bike. The blessing of the race by the village priest gave us a lot of peace of mind, as safety was not the event's strong suit. With plenty of heat and dust in even the softest areas, we had a frankly fun day with our friends from the neighboring country. There were several heats with different categories: scramblers, pitbikes, choppers, urban, modified, etc… Even a guy with an MV Agusta decided to find a heat and put it on the track too, something the priest probably shouldn't have seen due to the profound sacrilege. We suffered a small mishap with our motorcycles, as a Kamikaze kid on a quad crashed into one of our bikes, creating a domino effect with several others nearby. Thanks to the priest's blessing, nothing happened to the child, but the same could not be said for the motorcycles. We left happy with our results in our category's heats (although we're not sure if it was a very accurate category selection), first place in the first heat and second place in the second (just two meters from snagging first… heheh). Due to lack of time, we couldn't compete in the subsequent heats, but the result would have been very close with "the hell driver" who was ahead of us. We thank Dusty Track for their great event and la urbana bike, Honor motorcycles, Adrián Otero (and his wife) and 5special for their company. Also to Flip Ribero for the second to last photo and to Nuno Feliz for the last one.
