Dusty Track | Drag Race

Dusty Track; Drag Edition was held on March 5th at its usual location, Ermesinde. Although this edition was different from what our neighboring country accustomed us to. They exchanged mud and dust for asphalt, in true Drag Race style. One against one on a 200-meter straight, slightly uphill. Accompanied by the guys from isnotacrime, we managed to deal with infinite technical problems on our transport to Oporto, finally reaching the Ermesinde area. Then, finding the exact location of the race was another saga in itself. The rain welcomed us to the Dusty Track race site, which was not very pleasant, given that the "Hot Burrita" in Drag Race mode had neither front brake nor rear suspension. Something that would have been greatly appreciated in case of rain. Once the sun shone again, the smell of burnt oil and burnt tires became the perfume of the place. This, together with the aroma of bifanas swimming in the fryer's oil, created a most exquisite atmosphere. After three in the afternoon, taking advantage of the clear weather, the races began; 50cc to 250cc | 250cc to 500cc and 500cc and up. The burnt tires gave way to the start of each heat, with the usual Dusty Track female waving the starting flag. Each "iron" and not-so-iron bike shot off like true "Sputnicks" across the 200-meter straight, slightly uphill. The braking and landing area was not very suitable for pre-eighties drum brakes. But fortunately, the fire and ambulance "carrinha" did not have to work throughout the edition. A great day accompanied by a good atmosphere and hospitality from both organizers and the general public and participants. Once the workday was over, we set off back home in our transport with two seats, three crew members, and three motorcycles. A good "tetris in every sense." Fortunately, we managed to arrive without unfortunate encounters with the men in green uniforms. Thanks to Capêlos Garage for photo #13 and to Simão Vidinha for the video!!!
