The 3rd Flat Track by Vintage Racing Spirit took place on February 10th, 11th, and 12th at the "Salon du 2 Roues" in Lyon.
Since it was just a stone's throw from Galicia, la Urbana and Machete Company decided to go. 3250 km isn't that far... or maybe it is...
Coinciding with a motorcycle show, the event was set up in an exhibition center, which included a motorcycle exhibition, builders, an indoor Enduro track, and an indoor Flat track circuit.
It was an invitational Flat Track, so most of the "Crème de la crème" of European Flat Track, both builders and riders, gathered there. Among those worth mentioning are; Co-built, Dutch Brothers, Atelier Chatokhine, BcKustoms, Freeride Motos Racing, etc…
It wasn't a competition, just an exhibition; groups of 7 entered the track, and naturally, no one wanted to be last.
We were pleasantly impressed by the enthusiasm and culture that exists for Flat Track in Europe, from kids aged 16 or 17 to people well into their 70s – much respect!!!
Regarding the motorcycles, we were very struck by the cult in France for Spanish two-stroke bikes of that era; Bultaco, Ossa, and Montesa. Some of them were already destined for Flat Track, but others were trial, enduro, or road bikes prepared for that purpose. This gives you a hint of what's cooking in the Machete Company oven; you'll know soon.
Unfortunately, we didn't have our new project ready for this Flat Track, and we had to borrow the "Sacamantecas," formerly owned by Adrián Otero "El Cojo Manteca," and we'd like to thank its new owner, Marcos Troncoso "El Chubi," for his support.
