Nasty Laybacks

Interview with the Nasty Laybacks, generating as many admirers as detractors... Why the name Nasty Laybacks and not Nasty Captains? The name doesn't mean anything. It came about like any other concept, a product of beers, laughs, and typical teasing among a group of friends who embrace a philosophy of self-improvement and not competing against anyone. We thought it was funny, and it stuck. Anyway, we are nastier than the Captains because their name didn't emerge naturally; it was forced. How long have you been a "surf gang," and what is the requirement to join? Do you have to cut off pinkies or beat people up? I wouldn't know when Nasty started. We've been surfing together our whole lives, and honestly, it's hard to put a start date on it. It's true that in the last year, we've become a bit more known through social media, but we've been active on the beaches for quite a few years. We're not really thugs, but we are totally against "posturing" and the modern surfing trend. We don't like the generalized attitude that can be seen on most beaches along our coast. We practice and promote respect, but we will be disrespectful to those who do not respect us. We only ask for one requirement: be real, and your only concern regarding surfing should be to enjoy it. Yes, there are people in the group who can beat people up, so it's best not to test them with pinkies. The people who have joined our big family are people from our circle with whom we share great moments both in and out of the water. Do you have any short-term or long-term goals, or is it simply pure fun? We like to enjoy what the ocean and the rumba offer us, have good times, create controversy, and conquer the night in every city we step foot in. Things are getting more serious. Among other things, we have a trip to Indonesia in sight with a camera crew to document everything so you can see it, thanks to the great Matiasbbk. We are working on Nasty clothing, we are also tying up loose ends to organize a very original championship, we have planned collaborations with other brands... and things that we will be releasing little by little through social media. Stay tuned. "We live for the day, today's surfing, and yesterday's hangover." You're becoming more and more known, even outside your local area, which means you get around quite a bit outside the neighborhood. How far has your network reached? Localism is a plague that shouldn't exist. The more you leave your area, the more and better people you will meet. We have good friends in A Coruña, in northern Portugal, in Euskadi, in Barcelona, Seville, Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Germany, etc. Some of us have traveled to the UK, the STATES, Indo, South America, Australia... All for surfing and/or rumba, and the truth is that whenever we travel, people treat us very well. And we reciprocate that with hospitality when they visit us. Anything you'd like to say, send greetings to family, etc...? A shout-out to all those who love us, to those who hate us, and especially to Jimbo. Thanks to MACHETE for the support, to Woodtown for the space they've given us, to Cerveza Salada for the published videos and those to come, and to all the people who appreciate and enjoy the scene, but especially to those who don't like it, as they are the ones who dedicate the most time to us.
