In 2015, we held our first championship in Mondaka.
For us, it was a very special moment, because what had started as a place to skate when it rained suddenly began to become something bigger. We were no longer just four friends building ramps in an old abandoned fish farm. That day, Mondaka started to feel like a meeting point.
People came from all over Galicia, and also from Salamanca. Among them were the people from BD Skateboards, who also sponsored the event. For us, having a brand like BD get involved in that first championship was a sign that what we were doing made sense.
It wasn't a huge championship or one with big resources. It was something much more real. Wood, the sound of wheels, buddies, cars parked on the property, people coming and going, tricks, falls, laughter, and that feeling of building a small scene from scratch.
That first championship in 2015 was important because it taught us that Mondaka could be more than just an indoor spot hidden in the woods. It could bring people together, energize the local scene, and create memorable moments.
It was the first step of many things that came later.
