Photographer Scott Pommier is fresh blood among photographers documenting American counterculture these days.
He started in skateboarding, taking photos for magazines for over ten years. Although now he covers many more fields.
Scott Pommier states that although he has extensive experience in skateboarding, advertising, fashion, etc., he does not feel confined or categorized in any of those specific areas, but rather a mix of all of them. He simply portrays what he finds interesting or beautiful.
He highlights the influence that Atiba Jefferson has had on his career in terms of technical skill and experimentation.
His connection to the world of motorcycles came spontaneously. During a photoshoot with Ed Templeton, in a private location, the police confiscated his photography equipment and his car. While waiting for the trial to resolve the issue, Scott Pommier bought a motorcycle and borrowed a very simple manual camera with a fixed 50mm lens from his brother, and he took his first motorcycle trip across the United States.
During this trip, he learned to capture photography, rather than to create photography. Until this moment, he was used to carrying a large camera kit and spending a few minutes preparing the set to capture the image.
The simplicity of a motorcycle trip made him understand photography in a different way.
