Skatopia

Skatopia is a DIY (Do it yourself) non-profit skatepark created by a community of 50 skaters, or as they call themselves, CIA skateboard agents. It is located in southern Ohio, on the outskirts of the city of Rutland, USA. It has a very anarchic atmosphere and some very "Redneck" characters. But this does not mean they are not very aware and spread their counterculture and transgressive politics through their Blog or social media. The space has an outdoor bowl park, an indoor full pipe, and finally the "Church of Skating," a piece of wooden bowl with pool coping, also covered. They also have a Skateboard Museum open to the public, where you can find many single-slider gems from the distant past to closer to our days. In addition to being politically committed, they have created a Graphic Design company called CIA LLC (Creative Intelligent Artist) at the facilities. With more than 20 years of history, it has been an essential stop on tours for many brands and magazines, from Thrasher with "King of the Road" to, in recent months, its appearance in the "We are blood" video by Transworld Skateboarding. A large number of metal bands also passed through its facilities for parties and events. About 3 years ago, Skatopia released a documentary video where you can perfectly see their vision of skateboarding, life, and chaos. The video is called "Skatopia 88 Acres of Anarchy" and it couldn't have a more fitting name. Below you can see a selection of images and also a trailer for their documentary video.
