Wheels and Waves, another year and it never ceases to surprise us with the global expansion it is experiencing. It began on Wednesday, June 14th with the “El Rollo” race at the Lasarte racetrack. Several disciplines were contested with different engine sizes and levels of experience on the track. It was in the Super Hooligans category (above 800cc) where our "partner" Adrián Otero (Sacamantecas) literally gave his all, reaching third place in the final with his Harley Davidson Sportster 883, which had no modifications other than 19” knobby tires. An unfortunate crash of the Indian that was ahead of him caused him to lose control in the turn and eat racetrack dirt, both he and his Harley’s oil tank; unfortunately, that was the end of his final race, having nearly grasped a second-place finish. Not bad at all, considering the difference in horsepower between the bikes. The final result: two broken metatarsals, a bent suspension, and a new power filter for the carburetor. But with his head held high!!!!!!! Steve Caballero from the Bones Brigade (not the deputy mayor of Vigo) also dropped by Wheels and Waves, putting in a not-so-bad performance in his first flat track. The following day was the official inauguration of Wheels and Waves in the classic Pasaia warehouse. An old factory repurposed as a multidisciplinary space. An installation of cages with the Desert Wolves from El Solitario Mc inside was the center of attention in the main warehouse; a Cybernetic Angel Cristo presented the three beautiful Desert Wolves. This year, the Californian magazine DICE MAGAZINE also had its own space at Wheels and Waves. A true display of glitter and ape-hanger handlebars with a lot of style. Friday was DragRace day at the Punks Pike, with “la copita,” a thematic “50cc” bike race, as a new category, since it couldn't be held last year due to adverse weather conditions. Punk’s Peak had a spectacular final between two beasts: the 190 hp Indian prepared by Young Guns and the BMW nineT prepared by Workhorse Speedshop and ridden by Lucky Cat. In the end, the former Moto GP rider Katja Poensgen took the prize (if you'll pardon the expression). All of this has been the official account; we're taking the unofficial part to the grave!!!!
